WELCOME TO THE QUAD CITY HEAT WEBSITE!

Hello Everyone,

What a difference a year makes. We finished the 2008 11U season with a 26-25 record, had one first place tournament finish and ended up finishing 32^nd at the Iowa State AA Tournament. The 2009 12U squad finished with a 44-21 record, had one first place tournament finish, three second place tournament finishes, finished 5^th in the Iowa State AA Tournament and 19^th in the USSSA AA World Series in Kansas City.

We really made a great run at the end of the season. Just prior to the Iowa State tournament we won the Harley Race Tournament in Cedar Rapids, then at State we made the Elite 8 actually finishing 5^th out of 50 teams with a record of 4-1. At the World Series we finished with 3 wins and 4 losses and fell into the upper half of the 42 teams from seven different states. In our last game we were winning against the Jager Field Sox 5-2 in the 4^th inning when I substituted a pitcher who had become ineligible by accident. We ended up having to forfeit the game and we were done. It was an unfortunate set of circumstances we all regret but felt we interpreted the rules as they were presented. It is still hard to take, especially when we were beating the Sox so handily. The Jager Field Sox ended up in the final four. Three of the teams that beat us ended up in the final four. The games we lost were by one run each and were outstanding games to watch.

I would like to say thank you to my coaching staff, Ray Cassady, Rick Milefchik and Dale Jones. Without their assistance we would not have developed and achieved the things we did this season. Special thanks go to Geoff Polzin who kept the official book for many of our games and help coach during practices and my wonderful wife Chris for putting up with me and my antics all season. A big thank you goes out to the moms, dads and fans that followed and supported us all season. It was a fun and exciting season.

As for next season, we will have tryouts on August 1-2 at 2:00pm at Jefferson School in Davenport and 5^that 6:00pm at Jefferson School. I have released all players and coaches so they may pursue whatever interests they may have. I will begin interviewing potential coaches immediately and hope to have them in place for tryouts. There have been a significant number of potential and past players interested in being a member of my 2010 13U team so competition will be tough. I plan on selecting 11 players maybe 12 and three coaches. Next season’s schedule will be similar to what we did this season in terms of travel. I will keep one weekend open each month though since this was one thing the parents commented on when they shared their thoughts with me on the season.

I plan on entering the new 2010 team into the August 12U Heat End of Summer Tournament and having those members play Fall Ball with us. Fall Ball is not mandatory but is strongly recommended for the 2010 team.
