Hello QC Heat 12U Team,

This is my second season at the helm and we aim to build on our very successful 2008 11U season.  Tryouts were very competitive.  We brought back seven solid players from the 2008 11U team and filled five spots with very promising talent.  In essence, we added strength, power, speed and experience to our team.  In addition to that, we have added new coaches to our staff.  This season we will have four coaches.  Each will be responsible for specific player skill development.  One main focus this off season will be hitting.  We will be a hitting machine next season.  Not only will we hit but be will be much faster than we were last season.  If you thought last season was thrilling, wait till you see the 2009 squad in action.

Our goal in 2009 is to win the USSSA AA Iowa State Championship and then win the USSSA AA World Series.  I expect to compete in about six or seven tournaments leading up to the State Tournament.  Last season we won one AA USSSA Tournament in Iowa City, and had second and third place finishes in two other tournaments.  We were ranked in the upper five in the Iowa USSSA AA polls for most of the season.  In 2009, I am going to focus more on playing in AA 12U tournaments; therefore, we may have a bit more travelling than we did last season.

We surprised several teams last season.  In 2009 we are going to take a huge step forward and really make a name for our team and the Heat Organization.  I am very excited about our 2009 team and parents.  I intend on developing our players during Fall Ball and will hold voluntary practices as long as we can do so outdoors.  Once the weather turns cold we will stop and regroup in January for spring workouts.  I expect to meet on Saturdays and Sundays in January, February and March then as soon as we can get outside we will begin scrimmaging other teams and preparing for the regular season and tournaments.  We will have about 30 regular season games competing in the Mississippi Valley Baseball League (MVBL).  These games are played during the week beginning in May. I would anticipate our first tournament in mid April.

Welcome aboard. Go Heat!!!
